Chau loan finishes

Chau has returned to Kismis United after his loan contract in Melbourne has ended.

Sorry guys for the tournament I did not organize. I hadn't had alot of time on my hands, the closer friends would know what I'm talking about. Anyway, due to personal issues (no, its nothing close to depression or anything) I hadn't had time to organize it.

I hope to help out with the organization of the field game, and with the weekly soccer as often as I can. As for the proposed tournament... well, if I get something done, it would be small scale so it might not be much different from a weekly soccer thingy. Either way I hope to get some feedback when I see everyone on Saturday before commencing such an activity.

See you all on (crowded) Saturday.

Time for another match update... Last wk, true enuff, we played 5v5... So long nver play with so little ppl liao... Funny thing is tat our guys disappear n appear is packs one... For this coming Sat's soccer, think we might have the issue... Do we have enuff guys for this coming Sat's game??? So far, a few of our guys have 'applied' for leave of absence liao... Jacky n Ken got tourney, Shawn n Allan n Ian got exams (Shahin also bah), Jere is injured, Denn got sch, Tong may not b free, JonD may not b coming... Who else is there left??? I think we can only afford a 5v5 this coming Sat... Gd enuff or u guys wanna rest??? By the time tis u guys read tis, JonD should have alreadi send out t sms liao...

There could b last min changes for tis wk-end lor... So keep track of the blog movements... N guys, pls reply to JonD or me asap... Thank you...

11 November 06: Match Day

Hiya ppl again~

Phew~ We managed to accomodate 18 ppl in a Sat soccer game actually... But then of cos, we played 3 teams, ensuring that our main/regular players get to play first (Priority give)... But then again, i still believe that 18 players is definitely too much liao... Crazy number... Unless we wanna push it towards a 22 to play field but then again, not a lot of ppl wanna play field... In the end, end up with not enuff ppl again~ Haha, so lame...

Next, a couple of issues... They r cutting trees and logging over there @ Kismis, will it affect us??? Hopefully someone can check tat out thx. We managed to get new balls for Kismis, Ben bought t balls liao... U guys wanna juz pay him back a token sum??? Dnt happily juz come n play lor...

So tis coming Sat, i expect Fiq n Dieq to finally return. No more last minute excuses like last Sat (U 2 gone missing for 1.5mths liao). JonD also like not so regular liao hor... T rest of the guys at least i still got an idea where they r... Denn studying, Hao training for tourney, Ian back only in Dec, Shawn/Allan/Shahin should b away for exams soon... Well i aint sure abt t turn-out for tis coming Sat soccer but pls confirm asap... Seriously dnt wanna see another 18 ppl liao, else players wont get to play much in juz t mere 3hrs @ Kismis lor (In cases of 3 teams)...

Bolla bolla~

4 November 06: Match Day

Welcome to November,

After a disappointing way to end the last soccer game of October, we move ahead in the month of ups n downs... Ups for the start of sch holidays and a time to play my fav song, November Rain... Downs for the exams-takers and students... Sigh~

The last game we had in Henderson is terrible and really disappointing. With only 4 Kismis Utd players present only, the rest r all outsiders. Wat's the reason? Dnt wanna travel, dnt wanna play with others or dnt wanna change location? Dnt really understand tis bit... I think we gotta improve on tis also... Need to travel a bit at times to challenge others n learn frm other opponents... Of cos, if we have enough players to play among ourselves then of cos our own players come first. Reasons for the change of location to Henderson is bcos Ngee Ann Poly is booked for their sports meet and NUS' courts r used for some sort of tourney... So no choice we travel a bit more... But that should not b gd excuse not to turn up lor... Well, lesson learn bah...

Tis coming Sat, hopefully we'll see a better turn out... 4 Kismis Utd players is a disgrace~! Jeremy have invited his friends to come tis Sat, so 5 ppl from his side liao. Expect to see Fiq n Dieq return also. The rest i dunno liao...

Regarding the ball issue, Ben will b going to Qnsway to get one tis Fri... Can Fiq bring the other ball also. N to tos who have not pay me up, i need to close acct liao, pls pay me buy tis Sat...

Lets kick ball~

28 October 06: Match Day

Hiya ppl~!

Enuff festive and love sessions liao, COME BACK TO SOCCER~!

Well last week's soccer sure is fun... Managed to play our 2 courts thingy again... Having 16 ppl sure makes a diff, the game gets fast pace and more technical... Hope to get this constant amount of players every week...

Tis coming Sat should expect to see a return of a few more players but as usual, a disappearance of another few... Seems like we wont really manage to see a full Kismis squad gathering any time sooner... Btw, the newest issue now is about t soccer-ball... One of them got screwed by our power kicks n decided to loose form... Can i suggest that we have at least 2 balls for every Sat??? Else, we'll end up with no ball to play liao if any other balls blows... Can someone b a bit auto to do so, thx...

The other thingy is abt jerseys, can tos guys who have not taken there jerseys to show face on Sat??? Or at least inform us earlier, dnt make Jacky bring the jerseys every week and then bring them home...

Looking forward to this Sat~

Hazzzzello ppl again,

Still blur? Seeing smoke? Well thanks to our dear neighbour, we r turning into beef jerkys. N for some others, they look like Rudolph now... Stay healthy guys, we got soccer games ahead.

Okie, first thingy, the jersey updates. Jerseys r finally done! I'd seen it, very nice printing and numbering. Clean white + navy blue prints is sure a nice striking combi. We'd sent our badge to be done by the same shop also. Those guys there seems desperate to earn the badge money from us too. Haha, JonD juz gave them an immediate yes answer for that. Okie, i dunno if they'll do good. Trust them lor... The shop ppl mentioned that the badge will cost something between $6-8 each. Now here comes the exciting part, how much is JonD going to pay for us??? Well he juz jolly mentioned that he'll sponsor didnt he??? Lets see how much tat wil be...

Oh so will you guys prepare $12 (Jersey) + $6-8 (Badge) to pay up when u see us???

Collecting of the jerseys should b tis Thurs or Fri. So we r gonna hand out t jerseys tis Sat. If you want your jersey, come down tis Sat. Be there! Now the issue is the transportation, u cant expect me to bring all the jerseys home right! Damn heavy leh, will someone with a car offer to help on this?

Smokinzzz...

Foldable Goalposts?

Hey guys, it's your on-loan player again.

I was wonder if you can find foldable goal-posts in Singapore in the normal sports shops.

I've spoken to Eric a long time ago about getting goalposts for our courts, but then we agreed that we would have issues about leaving it there when we are not playing - issues about weather, theft and unauthorized use. And besides, we are not even authorized to be leaving stuff like that there.

So a good solution would be foldable goalposts. I can swear from the experience that I have with them here is that they are sturdier than they look, and are quite durable. I was wondering if we could get those, then maybe we would feel more like we are playing a soccer game rather than just kicking a soccer ball.

The one I found in Australia is 1.4m in height and 2.4m across, which is decent street-soccer size. It costs about Aus$70 (~S$91) for one goalpost though. That's pretty expensive need I not say. Though I'm sure if such a product existed in Singapore, it would be cheaper. So what do you guys think? If every member chips in a bit, we got goalposts to enjoy. Like Eric, I can subsides it, so collect only lik $5 from each dude (which to be honest, we probably waste on a soccer bet in SGpools). Do you guys think it's worth it?

Also, if anyone comes across them when they visit a sports store, quote me the price. I don't expect anyone to go out of their way to look for them. (I'll probably do that at the end of the year when I'm back), so just if you happen to pass by one, or go to a sports shop.

Tag or mail me your feed back yea? Thanx.

7 October 06: Match Day

Hiya ppl,

The draught continues... Last Sat was kinda miserable for a count. A proud 5-aside is all we could managed n thanks to some last minute appearance by a few ppl else it's really a sad case. This wk-end i aint sure if things gonna stay t same or wat. But what's sure is who wont b expecting Fiq n Dieq n Dennis. Jacky and Erwin mentioned that they r not available also. Aint too sure abt the rest. Can we have an update on this asap.

Okie next the good news. I'd gotta our new team jerseys done. Ready for badge printing on Wed. But the sad thingy is, JonD still havent got the logo yet. So we'll have to wait for dunno where to get the badge printed onto t jersey (Delay again?). Hopefully we can get the jerseys frm the shop n immediately pass it to the printing shop for process. Dnt wanna bring home the jerseys then bring them down to Qnsway again, tats so lame. I m not going to do it!

Btw, i'll need to collect $11 from each of the member for the jersey. As for the badge, ask JonD. I aint sure if he wanna charge u guys free or what.

30 September 06: Match Day

Welcome back,

Here comes another update for the Sat game. Mmm... Nothing much to report from last weekend's game. So i just head straight to the upcoming game bah.

Wah, we'll b expecting a serious draught on the headcount for this coming Sat's game. The list is crazy, very crazy... Dennis, Shawn, Allan, Shahin are away on study leave, Fiq n Dieq will be resting for the next one month and King will be having work commitments on the next 2 weeks. We are left with only 8-9 ppl depending on availability but the good thing is, we have not count the ppl who join us regularly. So tis week-end, go or no go, me dunno also. We can opt to challenge other players elsewhere or juz play a simple 5-aside at Kismis. Pls reply earlier.

Then again, if dnt wanna have soccer, we can of course plan some other events...

Here goes:

Event: Saturday soccer game (Confirmed)
Venue: Kismis Court (Confirmed)
Date & time: 30 September 06, 9.30am
Attire: Streets
Personel-in-charge: Eric & JonD

DEC 06: Soccer tourney + BBQ + Chalet

Hey ppl,

You are game for an exciting n fun fill holidays on tis coming December. We'll be trying to jam pack your holidays with back to back events.

First stop,

Soccer tourney: Our 'on-loan' player is coming back~! Chris will be hosting this one. He's been work hard n planning for the big games frm Aussieland. If things went smooth, we are playing tournaroo on the second Sat of Dec (9 Dec). So watch out for tis space!

Part two,

BBQ nite: We r planning tis on the same day as the tourney. I mentioned back to back didnt i??? Kismis players n tos ppl who joined us for the tourney are invited to chill out n booze with us during the nite. To celebrate, to loosen up and to have fun. Location aint fixed yet but event is guaranteed! It'll b partying late into the nite for u guys... Who says unhealthy lifestyle n soccer cant mix? JonD will be handling tis one. So b prepared to shack it all out...

And finally,

Chalet: This is going b a half-event for Kismis citizens. We aint too sure if we wanna make it an official Kismis chalet or not. If yes, most prob it'll be at Sentosa or Downtown East. (Can decide now but time is definitely running out) If nope, then i'll juz go ahead with one on my own. But of cos, YOU r welcome to join up with my chalet, bring your family, bring your friends. No prob at all. Should be between 15-17 Dec lah... Stay tune for updates on tis one!

23 September 06: Match Day

Hiya ppl again...

This week should expect to see most of the missing players returning to action bah. But of cos, we'll be expecting a few others who will miss out on the game as usual lor. But as long as there's enuff for a 5-aside, we kick-off liao...

Last week's soccer quite shiok. We were expecting a rest day n no soccer liao but thanks to show up of a few players, we r down at Kismis kicking again. Thanks Weichong n co, M.S and a few of Shawn's pal to make things happen. Haha, things wont get any clearer until the last minute sometimes... Ended up with 15 ppl in total, wah kaoz... So we played the cross court thingy (Using 2 basketball courts n playing across it) Damn shiok lor, tis time round, more running, more long passes, more ball control. Hey, if we have that many ppl again, we should juz play like tis man...

Another issue, will still be our delay in the jersey thingy again. I'd yet to recieve all the details from you all (You all auto a bit, sms me t details). How to go the make them leh??? I hope to get things done before Sat so i can go over to Qnsway after soccer. Anyone interested to come along? Stop delaying...

Kismis Invitational

KISMIS Invitational

It’s time to start planning for a tournament should it ever arise at the end of the year. I don’t think I got enough time in Singapore to pull a full-scale ‘advertise and invite teams from all over Singapore to come and join’ kind of tournament, so I’m proposing a mini-tournament – an invitational.

With 16 core members of Kismis, I’m sure we can come up with at least three 5-a-side teams if not four with the help of some friends. Also, if I can get my SA gang to form one team, and Hao’s friends can form another – if not two, then we can get a 6 team mini-tournament already. With more teams joining from connections of other Kismis players, like the ex-players who have enough to form a team, we can have a pretty decent tournament. We could also invite friends to come down even if they don’t have a team and put “random” or “loose” players together as a team. I reckon getting 6 to 8 teams should be a realistic target.

We could settle this invitational within 1 day. Having say 2 groups, then the top two of each group go into the semi-finals. Then grand-final. That shouldn’t be too hard to co-ordinate. To give a rough idea, a 6-team-competition would have 6 group games and 2 playoff games. If time permits, we can even have a 3rd-4th playoff or games for those who didn’t make it out of the group. For an 8-team-competition, we would get 12 group games and 2 playoff games (if my maths is right).

If say we have 20 minute games. The tournament can be over within 3hours and 5hours for 6-team and 8-team competition respectively assuming one court. If we got two courts, it’s half the time, etc. Do the math.

Now, location is a problem. Kismis would be a good place because there are 3 courts. We can take two of them then we got 2 games running concurrently. However, it would lack proper goalposts, unless we can somehow rent it. I heard the NUS courts would be under renovation when I’m back, though it would be good as we got sufficient contacts in NUS to be able to book a court if it isn’t. St Wilfred is probably hard to book, and also expensive. While places like Tiong Bahru, with a brilliant caged-court, would have only 1 court to play on. If anyone knows of a place say like NUS can book some courts, I’ll be delighted to consider that location. Also about the goalposts in Kismis, can rent or buy anot? I can bear the costs.

While we’re on the cost issue, I’m willing to pay for everything, like if we need to rent the courts/goalposts. I also can sponsor drinks, though I know you all not so evil make me pay for everything right? ... Right? And then prizes, just have a commemorative token to remember the occasion and winner can already right? I trust being a street soccer team, we would have sufficient soccer balls even if we can manage to host two concurrent games.

We can improvise with referees. I could call down some neutral friends, but it is unlikely that someone who knows the game wouldn’t be playing, so since it is just a friendly social competition, we can get some of the players to be referees for games they are not playing in. I mean after all, there are two groups, and so the results of one group wouldn’t directly affect the other. But I trust in all friendliness, the referees wouldn’t be biased anyway.

As for the date, I would be touching down in Singapore last weekend of November, and since we all rather have a December tournament rather than one in January I would believe, so I would have to pick a date for within the month. The weekends in December are: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. I should think 24th being Christmas Eve is out, while I might not be around on the 17th. Day before the new year might be quite cool, but looks like 10th is the best date. One problem with the date issue is that there were suggestions to combine this invitational with the Chalet. And obviously the timing of the Chalet would depend on the bookings available, so it would be much harder to coordinate.

I, for one, am not too keen on integrating the chalet with the tournament. Though it sounds nice to be able to gather together after the tournament, having some BBQ and drinks and just chill and socialize between players, it is harder to coordinate and also if you’re paying for a the chalet, why spend your time elsewhere playing in a tournament? Well, I’ll leave that to you guys to talk it out – though as things go, it might take forever to come to a conclusion about it.

I believe I have covered every aspect of a simple invitation. If I missed out an important issue, don’t hesitate to shout out to me. Suggestions are more than welcomed; most of you have me on MSN whilst you can also contact me via the team email or my personal email. I hope to get the foundation plans laid out before I touch down in the country.

Thanks for your co-operation guys!

News reports + 16 September 06: Rest Day

Hiya ppl...

Well time for another Kismis Utd update. First thingy, our delayed n delayed decision on the jersey. After t tired and crazy game last Sat, no one seems to be too keen to vote anything. But a few guys did told me to make t decision on behalf of everyone lor, so I think we'll juz settle for the white color jersey and for the Kismis badge, we will be getting the iron on prints. To save cost n such lor... I'd got approval for the jersey sponsorship liao but first i'll need to get all your particulars like Full name, NRIC and address. Cos i need to register u all under my club, no worries abt anything. Kismis Utd is still Kismis Utd.

Btw, can everyone gimme your T-shirt size & name to-be-printed on jersey... I got your numbers liao... Once i'd compile the info, i'll go wif one of the guys to Qnsway to make t jersey. Oh ya, anyone more new players? Cos we will be making 20 jerseys altogether, in the end we'll b having at least 2 jerseys left (Without name/number). Why waste it??? If we juz purchase 17 pieces, i dunno if they'll still give us the coded price anot... So meanwhile, try to hunt for that few more guys lor...

Second issue, soccer on tis coming Sat, i also dunno on or off. Seems like we got quite a few of our regular players who will be bz with exams and work. I m fine if you guys still wanna play but pls inform me or JonD earlier so we can confirm lor... Dnt wait until last minute.

Third issue, courts booking. We have been having quite some silly problems abt the places we played at recently. First was NUS, some clowns come n disturb our play, then last wk, even at Kismis, the courts r booked. Darn... So can i request tos students at NUS or Kismis to book the courts for us when necessary??? Thx...

Anyway here goes:

Event: Saturday soccer game
Venue: Kismis Court (Confirm)
Date & time: 16 September 06, 9.30am (Confirm)
Attire: Streets
Personel-in-charge: Eric & JonD
Remarks: Be punctual. Ball-bearer come early. Sub-leaders please confirm your ppl wif JonD or me before Thursday (We dunno wanna call it off anot, so depends on the headcount). And i wont be entertaining anyone who comes in un-informed.

Jersey issue AGAIN?!

Guyz, I know it is kinda naggy but have anyone wondered how long we have been dwelling on this jersey issue?? Anybody can make a count?? I'm not trying to press things here or what but I think we ought to be fair to Eric in this case. He is willing to pump out part of the $$ for the new jerseys but up till even today we can't even confirm on the choice of colour for the jersey....Be it pink, white, black, yellow or any other colour we have thought of...none of it had been confirmed. No one is willing to make a break and say,"OK, we stick to this colour."

I just thought this was not very fair to Eric to be dangling there waiting for the durian to drop down and nobody is keen on lending a helping hand. If effort had been made to go down to Queensway and take pic of the choices for consideration, then those who din go down should have no concern over the choice of colour right? I myself was guilty of not going down with Eric and gang to look at the choice of jerseys thus I should not have any complaints and just pick from the choices available. However if others have more opinion I'm willing to listen..Be fair, Chau is far away from us but he constantly give us inputs and suggestions.

It's ain't that difficult to make a choice right? If Eric need to put up a survey form for all to fill in that would have been too absurd!

Ok, to ensure that things don't drag further until Christmas 2007, I list down 4 choices for all to consider....

1) Black or Grey jersey which Eric spotted
2) White jersey which Eric spotted
3) Another Red Jersey for home as proposed by Chau / J@cky
4) Pink Jersey as proposed by W.C. / King

[Addition from Chau: one small detail Jacky forgot to mention is that choice (3) - another red jersey is the same design as the one Eric photographed for us, so there is no need to be going down to choose another jersey desgin. While choice (4) - the pink jersey, that one the gang would have to go down to pick a new design with a pink variation. Thanks Jacky for driving things forward!;)]

Pick one from the list....Those who would be there on Sat can give your answer there and those who would not be able to make it and happen to see this blog pl either SMS Eric / Jono your choice or tag it in. For those who missed this then I'll apologise first as it would not be considered.. I just want to drive things moving so you all may get offended or anything but I really don't meant it.. Just don't want to whole club to be dwelling on this issue until next Christmas...Agree??

See you all this Sat!! :-)

9 September 06: Match Day

Hiya ppl, it's Tuesday again~! Time for updates....

Home and Away

Hey guys,

Firstly, I'd like to thank Eric, JD n co. for going down to to Queensway to check out the design, price and printings of the jerseys for us. I'm sure you've all seen the pics in the previous entry. But the question now is:
DO WE WANT A HOME OR ALTERNATE JERSEY?

Arguments for a home jersey. What is a team where only half the team has a home jersey? 9 out of 17 to be exact.. but it's about half. And as for those who haven't gotten the jersey, it wouldn't be nice to have only half of us wearing our red while the others are wearing their Manchester United or Young Lions jerseys. I should think that's what a team jersey is about.

On the other hand, we all want a new funky colour. Currently, votes are for white and black - since Eric intelligiently chose a design which doesn't offer PINK as a colour - but that's not the point. Whether its black or white or hot pink or dirt green, it doesn't change the fact that it would be an alternate or 'away' - if you like - jersey. It wouldn't represent the red-n-black of the Kismis team I put so much effort of colour the webpage to! Okay kidding.

Well, my two cents worth is that I think we should all get a new red jersey. So our this Kismis team with a 'new beginning' can all have the same consistent jerseys in a colour we all like. Thankfully, Jacky has sided with me. But it seems like 'anything goes' for most people I've talked to.

Leave your comments yea? Thnx

Jersey hunt results

Hey hey ppl...

We went for a recce for our new jerseys at Queensway yesterday and we found these:

Brand: Lotto
Colors: White, black, red, blue
Material: Lycra? I dunno, but it sure is smooth n good
Price: $26 (I m going to absorb $15 of it, so u guys paying $11 only)
Printing: Free (No. and name is inclusive; you can print any amount of letters)
Logo: $6 for iron-print & $10 for emboid

We didnt have time to see any other shops but seriously there aint any other 'good' shops doing team jerseys in Queensway anyway. So thought we juz settle with this shop lor. Definitely, we are open for another round of recce if you guys are free. Oh there is a minimum order of 20 jerseys. We'd got 17 guys now, we need 3 more?!? So meanwhile, you guys have to recruit more players lor. It'll take about a week to get everything done.

The faster we response, the faster we can get our new jerseys.

How was last week? Sian, i cant come for soccer...

Btw, thanks you ppl for the treat. Yummy~!

Another week has gone by. No time left. Another delay???

Well, the last outing at NUS didnt went as planned... We got disrupted by a bunch of clowns, we got player who didnt come, we got player who choose not to come, we got players who come n disappear without inform us & we also got someone who posted on the blog suggesting to go Queensway but ended up doing nothing. Where's t sense of responsibility of these ppl u might wonder??? Well it's not going to do the team any good anyway. But luckily we still have a good turn out, so game as usual 4 us. Had a shorter game of 7 v 8 but still a cool thing. We r happy to welcome Ben onboard Kismis Utd. He'll b our first major signing, hahaha... (Ben if u free, send your details to Chris via kismisunited@yahoo.com.sg so he can update t team list)

LameTeam = Chau
denn10 = Dennis

19 August 06: Match Day

Happy~! Last week's game at NUS is great. Thanks to some crazy last minute arrangement, we r all game in... Lotsa ppl came and in the end we played a crazy 8-aside?!? Wah kaoz... We managed to secure the bigger court and clocked 4-hrs of extreme soccer; 2 games wif our own guys and 1 game against some 'locals' from NUS... Haha, they got whipped by us of cos! We are juz too good for them...

NUS is sure a nice place to play at, wif lotsa mei-mei to watch also... N damn, like wat M.S. said 'We r so popular, even actors wanna come play with us...' N sure, we do attract one mediacock actor wif us... Think we should go there more often...

Btw, tis coming wk-end, we r back to our home ground, Kismis. Tat lazy JonD dnt wanna plan so i'll b arranging for u guys again... But i think we could definitely go for an earlier timing since we can do it at NUS, why not at Kismis??? So we can have a longer period of soccer also...

~NEWSFLASH~

Omg, u guys juz did it again~! N u have got yaself another match @ NUS!!! A goddamn 18 ppl to the count... Shiok man~! It's gonna b another early game, cos we need to go chop the place before others invade the place... Yahoo! Fantasy League

Hey guys!

I probably sent you all in invite directly to your e-mailbox, but I'm posting it up to let it be publicly known we got a "Kismis n Co" league running in Yahoo! Fantasy Socccer. Oh yes, my yahoo email address is "fark_my_spider". and my team is "LameTeam", just so you know who I am.

For those of you who don't know, we ran the fantasy league last year - which was won by Shawn.. BUT i came in second! Haha. Just to fill in the ignorant, fantasy league soccer is picking your players and they score points according to how they perform in real life every week. More details on the website. I bet I'm insulting your intelligence by saying that, but I don't want to over-assume everyone knows what I'm talkin about.

The league is open to all Kismis and friends. And friends of friends and friends of friends of friends etc. Basically to anyone. But I would appreciate if you told me who you are when you join. And I'm encouraging more people to play! More the merrier!

And remember to check on your league team every week!

For those of you who don't know the link its http://uk.premiership.fantasysports.yahoo.com/football

The group ID is #2477
and password is "kismis" (thanks Den for correcting me)
the leagues name should be "Kismis n Co"

See you there.

Jersey Colour: Member's Vote

Okay, after getting approval, I think it was a good idea to get the members only to vote for our new jersey. Afterall, we will be the ones wearing it. And putting a public vote, god knows who had voted. No wonder only got 2 members say they voted pink.. yet there were 8 votes?

Also, it has been clarified that this jersey colour is our ALTERNATE jersey colour - or AWAY kit if you like. I was mistaken at first too, so I voted red on the previous poll. Anyway, since we are doing away with that poll, let's clarify that it's our away jersey. So quit voting red!

To have the members voices only, it can also be open ended. Honestly, it was insane to put all possible colours on a poll rite? So we'll have it open-ended. Suggestions for secondary colour are also welcome. For example "primary: black; secondary: white" etc..

Here is how the votes have been so far:
(by jersey number)

Fiq: blue/white
Tong:
Shawn: white
Eric "Nakitas": orange/white
JonDavid:
Chau: white
Hao:
MS: pink
(Shahin) Khail:
Ken:
S.Ian: black
Dennis: pink
Jacky: white
W.C: anything
Erwin:
Den "King": anything

hope its not too late:

5 August 06: Match Day

OKie, as usual, there will be soccer tis coming Sat. I was not around last wk and it seems like some unwelcomed thingy did happened, with a few players grumbling about it. Well juz when you think that we can settle down & look ahead, problems come to us again. But no worries lah, we'll solve it, even if we have to take some drastic measures.

I heard that, tis coming Sat, we can expect a near full attendence for all 16 players liao. Tats gd news. So we can really sit n plan further liao. But of cos, not forget the soccer game itself la. Feedback is that our players dnt enjoy playing 3 teams unless it's all our own people. N we will not entertain any other ppl who pop up and wanted to play 'Next team'... Priority is always given to our own people...

Btw, we should be making our way down to queensway to reece our jersey after the game. Hope can come up wif a budget & settle on color options & such~ *Will JonD bring along t logo to check out t printing price, thank you* Anyone interested, pls tag along~

Editing the Blog

Hey guys,

I've noticed the website has been tweaked a bit. Usually I got no problems with that, like removing the taskbar (though I did find it useful - I added a link back to blogger home at the footer instead).

I appreciate the effort of our fellow members, and also acknowledge that their html knowledge might be better than mine. However, as webmaster, I would like to request members who wish to change the blog layout to consult me first. Email me at the team email or my personal email/msn (found on team sheet). It would be messy if everyone decided to tweak things a bit here and there. So for the sake of organization, I would appreciate a request of permission to toggle with the blog settings.

Members are, however, not only welcomed, but encouraged to post up blog entries and/or tag on the chatterbox - which by the way, has been screwed up for the same reason I don't want members to be just switching things around - because your voice is important.

As for the music, I personally feel it's slowing down the download-time of the webpage, and that is against the golden rule of web page design - to reduce download time.

I hope to provide Kismis with the most efficient weblog possible. Thanks for your understanding.

RE: Post meeting conclusions...

Hey guys... I got a few things to mention about the post-meeting conclusions. Sorry I can't be there for all the meetings and stuff now, and looks like I wouldn't be avalible next year either. Iill most likely be undertaking a year-long graduate diploma in education here in Australia. But I'll still be back every year November - Feburary (hopefully next June-July I can come back too).

I'm aware that in that respect I cannot be an active member of the Kismis team other than handling this blog from overseas, and perhaps help to sponsor some things when I start earning money (next year). But having said that, I would like to be part of the Kismis team that moves forward. I will help build this club once my formal education commiments are concluded. It wouldn't be too long before we could enter our club into a street soccer league (or even set up a league ourselves!).

In the light of that, I would first address the immediate situation in direct response to Eric's post.

1) Priority and Direction
I think Kismis can go much futhur than what we are now. In the long term, with appropriate funding (I'll be a willing sponsor), we could build our own homeground - a court with proper goalposts. St Wilfred is an example of a private soccer pitch, so it's not impossible. We can hold competitions -or even a weekly league- on that ground and rent it out when we are not playing on it - it could be an investment as much as an asset. On the topic of a the league, you don't need much to set up a league. I'm taking part in a indoor soccer league here, and we as players just pay a fixed amount per team each week and turn up during our fixture. Games are recorded and the league table is established, if I'm not already speaking the obvious.

2) Registration
I would say it's a great thing that we have so many players who are committed to the Kismis cause. I just have to say we have to get a goalkeeper. Also, my apologises for the late intervention but as I have already tagged, Shahin requested for the number 13 jersey long ago as it's his favourite player and position Nesta. Can I ask WeiChong to give up the number please?

3) Attitude and Commitment
I believe we would have better commitment these days with the re-registrations. But attitude is one key issue to be corrected. The late coming all started long ago, when the ball-bearer comes late, then the rest of the people find there is no point coming early. Then the viscous circle continues.

4) Jersey
Thanks Eric for settling the jersey for us, though I think it is unfair for you and JonDavid to be bearing the costs. I commend your generosity, but you guys are no Abramovich, you should allow each and every player to bear the costs of their own jersey. If not, I'm willing to put in a bit of cash for everyone too.

5) Duties
One comment: what do you expect me to do with the blog? I'm no coding expert.. I'm majoring in physics and maths and not computer science. Perhaps I could have a chat with BingJie - he is someone doing computer programming. But what is your idea of 'fixing up' the blog? You mean to have drop-down tabs of things like news, reports, columns? It could work, but it's beyond my coding capabilities and blogger's webspace. I need to find a webspace to build the website upon!

6) Mathces and Travelling
I think Eric's suggestion is a good one. The one about going different places each week. Not only do we compensate for everyone's location in the country (but seriously you pansies who don't want to travel.. wait till you come to Melbourne, distances are much farther here!) , but we also get to exposed to different teams across the island. You get my vote for the suggestion!

Well, these are my comments about the post-meeting. Overall I'm glad Kismis decided to get together to sort everything out. I'll like to hear more voices over the website though. See you all in 3 months!

Post meeting conclusions...

Hiya ppl, guess we have finally got a chance to settle ourselves down n have a good team-talk liao. After t match on 22 July 06, we get to spurt out our concerns, straighten on agendas and settle on some dangling issues. Most of t main players r present tt day, so it's a good crowd of voice.

We settled on the following issues:

1) Priority and direction - Kismis has been around for 2-3yrs but seriously not much members have an idea of where we r heading n what r we trying to achieve. It started out as a friends' wk-end soccer gathering n people who r free juz come n go as they like. We can play both streets n field. Who got lobang, we go where type lor. Anyway, from now onwards Kismis will give priority to street soccer (Any type of street, not juz tos 4-on-4 type) and field soccer will be a secondary thingy. We'll still take on field matches wif anyone but we'll b playing for fun only. Dnt think we will be doing any competitive field matches at t moment. We'll work on establishing a stable team first n work frm there. Hopefully one day, we'll have enuff ppl to move onto field soccer...

2) Registration of players - We have work out on a list of 16 people who are ready to call themselves Kismis Utd players. We'll still b welcoming more people and also working to recruit tos boundary people (Friends' friends). We have also settled on the jersey numbering.

3) Attitude and commitment - Here's quite n issue. As we know, there's a few 'dead' players in Kismis and there also a few players who couldnt show up as often for t games. So we have to be wise on whether to take up such players or not. Dnt wanna see players picking up the jersey n not appearing at all. No point appearing once per month also. No point coming juz becos ya best friend is here. We also dnt need players doing 'lip service' only; say come no come, no come say bullshit things... Wat's t use of all t excuses n 'wishes' if u cant make it at all... Also to touch on t punctuality of players, 5-10min late is okie... But will t ball bearer n some key players pls b early... I'll slap myself n make it a point to b early also...

4) Jersey - All have confirm about the jersey. I'll also be making arrangement on my side to get things done asap. We'll b helping to get t jerseys n printing out by Sept or Oct bah. T only thing undone is the color. U guys sure u want 'pink'??? (So gay lor...) I'll pay for a part of t jersey and JonD will b sponsoring t badges... T rest of t amt to pay will depend on which jersey chosen liao...

5) Duties - JonD will continue to be in-charge of contacting t ppl. (Phone-call or sms) So u guys pls reply to him when he contact u. Dnt give him trouble. Also be considerate, if u cant come or get something on or bringing friends, go n inform him before Friday (Day before match) Eric - Okie, i'll b doing tis blog (Updating on matches and news report) and also to do t logistic of booking fields and such. So if there is going to be a need to use a field, please response to me earlier (Booking takes time). Shawn, Shahin and Weichong - The task of bringing your friends down for soccer & try to recruit them also (If they meet our criteria) Chris - Please help to 'fix-up' the blog, i can only write in the blog but i dunno how to add anything 'stunning' to it.

6) Matches - Matches will be confirmed by Wed/Thurs of the week. I'll b posting the venue, game type and other details on the blog. I'll also inform JonD about t details also. I'll propose to rotate the games n venue n timing a bit (Slowly lah), so that we r fair to t players who travel fair every wk to play. Dnt wish to hear players not wanting to travel or wat excuses la. So far, we'd played at Kismis (Home-grd), Zhangde field, Henderson court, NUS, Clementi, St Wilfrid and Telok Blangah.

List of registered players and number:

Syafiq - 4; Tong - 5; Shawn - 6; Eric - 7; JonD - 8; Chau - 9; Hao - 10; M.S. - 11; Shahin - 13; Ken - 17; Ian - 21; Dennis - 22; Jacky - 23; Weichong - 24; Erwin -25; Jianchong -89

We'll b waiting on the replies from a few more guys... Let's work hard for Kismis Utd bah...

But seems like Hao himself is off to Ubin for some business so we also dunno wat we wanna do now. Book a field n train on ourselves (Tough order, now is alreadi Tues liao & do we have tt much ppl to play field???) or mayb we act blur and continue our weekly routine of streets at Kismis... Well u guys can choose lor...

We have got much unresolved issues on Kismis also so hopefully we can get a better strength tis coming Sat n have a good talk on the Jerseys, Attitudes, Registrations and also the vision/mission of Kismis bah... So ppl like Shawn, Shahin, Syafiq, JonD, Weichong should b ard lor... Not to say t others r not impt but tis r t few ICs for their individual grp lor... Ref: Fiq's Post

Hi all!!! Manage to find my way into the blog.....Just like to say a few words over the recent heated up posts....

Ref: Lastly, the issue about tournaments and friendlies.we should try to organise more friendlies to bond our players and also to allow our players to get use with each other way of playing. We should try not to get into any tournament unless we are confident enough to do well in it. I know some of you will say that the tournament is a good exposure to the team but i feel that if we are gonna enter a tournament, we should at least be able to enter and leave it with our head hold up high and not with disappointment and regret. This will bring down our team morale.

I agree with Fiq on this and also reinstate my stressing to Eric & Jono that we shall have more field training (that was preparation to the Tourny in Jun).....If everyone comes up for a field game not knowing the style of play of the rest of the team, then it is suicidal..

Kudos to Fiq, M.S., Tong just to name a few who help maintained the stability of the team during the tournament..I personally felt that I could have done much more better for the team if I had a better understanding to the style of the players...Erwin aside cos we've been playing field soccer for quite sometime so the telepathic understanding is there (where he ate my goal during the tourny......#%#%!#!$^&^*%$**#%#@@!!)

Even before we were to arrange for friendlies, I'll suggest having some field training first as the ball sense on the field is different and each and everyone of us may have to change our style of play on the field. I personally run more on the field to cover wider areas but that will also mean I'll need someone to cover me which Fiq, Tong had been wonderful to the task!! I believe our backline is stable and strong enough and the only area that need revamp and training will be the MIDFIELD..The battle is won in midfield, and it will never be a one man battle...M.S. was seen battling for ball in the middle without much support, but not because there was no support but largely due to the lack of understanding amongst our midfielders. All these can be rectified during prep training to the games though and fitness will also be another key for field games. I believe I'm considered one of the oldest among us excluding my Bro lah and if I can maintain my fitness for 90min, I expect all to do so. Sounds demanding but actually it is a form of motivation for all. In a game, motivation is the key to let us forget about fatique!! :)

I'll try to impart whatever knowledge I have on field training and also like all of you to share together with everyone on your knowledge. I may have undergone intense soccer training in the past but that doesn't mean I'm the most knowledgable person among the team. Each and everyone will have something to share and teach me along the way as well... :)

Btw, I'm still a guest player I suppose as I did not officially join in the club for many games, etc. If you all dun mind my age, I'm willing to officially join Kismis Utd and will like to take up No. 23 pls... :)

Poll

Hey all,

On request of Eric... there is the new poll up to let you guys choose the PRIMARY colour of the new jersey. I couldn't put primary and secondary colour combinations or there would be too many permuations. Anyway, so vote for the primary colour. Secondary colour can decide later.

The previous poll had an overall poor response. But anyway, 44% voted for Chalet n tournament to be organised at the end of the year, 33% voted for Chalet only while the last 23% was shared equally between 'all of the above' and 'tournament only'. So guess that means chalet is confirmed on (as if we needed a poll to decide that), while details of a tournment are to be discussed. We still haven't decided on what scale should the tournament be. An intra-Kismis n friends would still be a tournament wouldn't it? Anyway, that's another topic for another time.

Vote - because your voice makes a difference

(damn that sounds cliche)

Comment on previous post

The issues surfaced by Eric are issues bothering our team for the last few months. I believe we should sit down together after a game of soccer to discuss on it and how to prevent such things from happening again.

The players in our team should be look into and those players who show no commitment to the team should be dropped to make way for new players.I will like to be tasked with the reconstruction of our new team if there is yet anyone to be in charge of it.

Next, I will like to address the issue of msging our players. I feel that currently JonD is doing a great job in informing us on whether will there be any soccer games during the weekends and he should continue doing so.He is our source of information and we rely greatly on him to make sure that the msg is relayed either by hp or through e blog.

Lastly, the issue about tournaments and friendlies.we should try to organise more friendlies to bond our players and also to allow our players to get use with each other way of playing.

My apologies if my opinions hav offended anyone.I just want you guys to keep this in mind that 'winning a game is a team effort and without the players in the team striving together to the goal,we will never be able to achieve tat goal.'

Reply to Chris' post...

I have a few points regarding the issues that Chris have brought up. I actually wanted to juz tag tis but i see no point as BLIND PPL cant read tagboards~!

1st) The new jerseys: I have a lobang for the jerseys. Mayb i can even spponsor the jerseys for everyone. T guys juz pay for the numbering & logo mayb??? Tat one will depend on the response of the team and the COMMITMENT i see for the ppl lor. I dnt want any undeserving ppl getting the jersey and be part of the team. I m willing to pay but i expect a return in terms of commitment.

2nd)I dnt not agree with the point that "If hand them a jersey and call them members", these ppl will feel more commited. We have always welcome anyone. It doesnt take a jersey to prove anything. Take a look at t few who doesnt have a jersey but are here more regularly than tos with jersey. N it is a SHAME to hear that a few ppl wif jerseys have not ever wear our jerseys before~! And if u r sincere abt joining/playing with the team, U CAN ALWAYS CALL US! My number, JonD's number is on the blog~! Why r we the ones making all t calls??? And in the end, u see ppl coming to games late. Not coming down and nver even bother to give a reason. There's no commitment. N there r also those ppl who promise to be here but due to late nite on Fri, due to party, due to lazy, due to sleep, due to gf, chooses to boycott the team. If there is one person in the team who can do it, why cant u???

3rd) This is a dummy blog lor... May i seriously ask, who really reads tis blog??? I can see only a handful and not regularly also lor... This blog is meant to be our best means of info and updates but i get ppl asking me, "Wat your blog address", "U got write meh", "I nver read leh"... Can someone do something abt tis??? I even did sent a mass sms to all t kismis ppl i knoe to inform of this blog but none replied to me~!

4) Kismis Utd has been up for 3-4yrs... But how many tourneys or matches have we go for??? Who r our first IX or regular ppl??? Even when we need to play against others, we have to ask friend to bring friend to fill the voids. How pathetic. How r we going to organise anything if we cant even identify ourselves???

I know i m ranting a lot but i think i have to say lor... It's truely unfair to me and JonD for t hard work. When can we sit back on a Sat n wait for someone to call us up for soccer? Wanna bet, if t two of us dnt call for a mth, soccer stops for a mth??? Or should i say, who dare takes up t challenge of organising a Sat game (Dnt even mention tourney)...

Btw, i really appreciate tos friend's friends who bother to make t number for us every wk-end. We gotta rely so much on them. If tos ppl r members, they will make us prouder then tos who r here regularly but nver claims to b a kismis player at all...

Apology if the above passage have cause any discomfort or unrest among the ppl. It was meant to stir up a common reaction towards 'real' issues faced by Kismis. No one is personally targeted at or intended. We welcome all feedbacks, good or bad. and we'll try our best to address to the issue as a team, Kismis Utd team. Dnt wanna see ppl not turning up for soccer juz becos of something someone said...

Eric

Re-Registrations?

Hey guys, sorry haven't posted up anything, been busy with exams and World Cup. Anyway, it has come to my attention that alot of the guys don't know that I'm proposing a re-registration. I have spoken with Eric about it some time back, but I think I would suggest it to everyone now. Understandably, I'm not going to sit here in aus and let you-all do the hard work, so right now I'm just proposing the idea, and give it some time to develope, and I'll be a part of it when I'm back.

Firstly, we have several 'phantom players' in the sense that they exists, but we never see them. So I think instead of wasting an sms every weekend, just message them once and for all if they want to come down and be handed a jersey. If not, then you can tell them if they want to look for a game, to contact us if there is one on, rather than us contacting them anymore. If you think about it, if they come fewer times than they don't, then its more economic for them to message when they wanna come rather than asking them if they want or not.

Secondly, we have several players who are more consistent than certain so-called "members". Players like Shawn and Shahin and Jacky, just to name a few, are more than members and should be formally handed jerseys.

Thirdly, there are players who will feel more commited to come if you hand them a jersey and call them members. I get the feeling that some feel that they are there just to make up the numbers because of some of our member's reactions towards them.

These are the 3 major points I can think of at the moment. I'm sure you agree that there would be many more benefits ahead of just organisation, cost-saving and a team identity. I look forward to hearing comments from the team.

In a seperate point, I agree with Erwin about the "leaders" and an organised information network. Examples cited were to contact the likes of Shawn, Shahin and WeiChong, and in turn they will contact their friends, ex-classmates and siblings respectively. But I believe you have to have this network organised; though it might, it probably would not happen all by itself.

Also, there has been a suggestion of "new season" jerseys to coincide with the re-registration and recruitment drive. Especially if the old design is not longer available, we could get a new kit which includes names, numbers and maybe the badge. But this idea is still in a very transparent state and nothing has been confirmed yet. So we would like to hear comments from all as usual.

Thanks for you time,
Chau

More On Profiling

Following up on the previous post about profiling, I've done some as a sample for you guys to see. It so happens I got the most complete information about Jon, Hao and myself, who works out to be numbers 8,9 and 10 (not in order). The list is intended to be sorted by jersey numbers.

So anyway, send in the profiles of all the members! thanks! I'm counting mainly on Eric, JD n Hao to be the driving forces as usual!

Btw, Jon, how would describe your main occupation now? And Eric too?

Profiling

In order to give this team page a more of a team page, I have changed the "attendence list" to a profile page - by request of Ahhao.

But as you can see, nothing has been posted yet because I do not have enough information. Could I ask for Hao to help me collect this profiling information? But if Eric or JD would be so kind as to collect this information and hand it to me, it would be most welcomed. You can also email it directly to me at chau_guy@hotmail.com or the kismis email. I could then post a profile page up. The information I need is listed below.

Also, I need photos. So far I only have photos of Hao, Eric, Erwin, Dennis, MS, JD and of course myself. Hao suppose to update me with more, so just a gentle remainder bro to help me continue collecting. Thanks guys!

Example of information:

Common Name: Chau
Full Name: Christopher Chau
Jersey Number: 9
Age: 21
Position: AM RLC / ST

Main Occupation: Student
Contacts: chau_guy@hotmail.com

NB:
1) Age is defined as age in 2006 whether your birthday has passed this year or not, this is to ensure it can be easily updated in future.

2) I have a rough list of "positions" of everyone, but if you have preferred position, it would be better to hear it from you.

3) If you do not wish to disclose all your information such as occupation/company or contacts, it could appear as "undisclosed".
