13 January 07: Match Day + Issues

Hey guys,

Chau here. I just got a call regarding this Saturdays soccer that the courts at Kismis will be booked. So I thought it would a good opportunity to go to other public courts and challenge other teams. Who knows we might find a good player who wants to play with us, or a rival team that can challenge us on a regular basis? But those are minor details.

I'm looking for suggestions for public courts we can play at. I'm very much hoping to add to the list because I got so few suggestions. Well, feel free to tag to make a suggestion or vote for a location.

The courts suggested so far are:

Tiong Bahru - Henderson Park
Pros: Very large nice court in a cage with a excellent goalpost
Cons: Heard from sources it may be crowded and might have to wait a long time to play

Telok Blangah - oppo Harbourfront
Pros: Large court in cage with goalposts
Cons: Out of the way
Unknown: if its still there (I last played there 2 years ago) and if it will be crowded or not.

Clementi - 2 courts - near Police Station or Mosque
Pros: 2 courts make it usually less crowded, and the court has walls
Cons: The courts might be a bit small and its the low goalposts for both

Jurong - near IMM
*details unknown*

Boonlay
*details unknown*

CCK
Pros: Empty
Cons: Empty
Note: we can arrange a friendly with another team at this location.

ALSO, field soccer match amongst the Kismis members and friends. I figured if we can get 20+ on a normal day, then 24-28 on a field day shouldn't be impossible. From what I heard the tanglin fields are only available on the 27th Jan 07. So put your name in (and call your friends) if you can make it alright?

LASTLY, the poll has told me that it's frustrating to hit the bench to score when we play the wider version in Kismis. So Jon, Ian and I took the liberty of going to check out portable goalposts from various stores. We found one that would arrive in 2 weeks a 1.5m, 3.5m wide (but there are other sizes) portable goalposts - meaning it can be dismantled and reassembled on match days. The thing is that it would set us back about S$330 for a pair of them. I was guranteed it would be high quality metal and almost professional looking and from what I was told am convinced its worth it. So do the Kismis players want to share the cost of it? Let me know after you've thought about it. Thanks

But the stinging issue remains the where are we going to play this Sat - so reply on that one asap!
